Biographies
Giacomo Puccini
Giacomo Puccini, de son nom complet Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini, né le 22 décembre 1858 à Lucques (grand-duché de Toscane) et mort le 29 novembre 1924 à Bruxelles, est un compositeur italien, considéré comme l'un des plus grands compositeurs de la fin du XIXe siècle et du début du XXe siècle.
Issu d'une famille dans laquelle cinq générations de musiciens se sont succédé, il porte le même prénom que son arrière-arrière-grand-père Jacopo Puccini, organiste et compositeur de musique sacrée du XVIIIe siècle, et est le fils de Michele Puccini (1813-1864), le petit-fils de Domenico Puccini (1772-1815) et l'arrière-petit-fils d'Antonio Puccini (1747-1832).
Leontyne Price
Leontyne Price est une cantatrice (soprano) américaine, née le 10 février 1927. Elle est surtout connue pour ses rôles verdiens, au premier rang desquels Aïda, un rôle dont elle a été l'une des principales interprètes pendant presque trente ans.
Son ascension vers la renommée internationale, dans les années 1960, se produit en même temps que celle d’autres artistes noirs américains, mais son art mérite avant tout d'être considéré comme un sommet du chant classique américain. Faisant partie d'une génération de grandes cantatrices qui comprend notamment Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland et Montserrat Caballé, Leontyne Price est l'une des plus grandes sopranos lyrico-spinto de son époque, possédant un timbre riche, puissant et expressif.

American operatic tenor and cantor, born Rivn (Rubin) Ticker, Aug. 28, 1913, Brooklyn, N.Y., U.S. died Jan. 8, 1975, Kalamazoo, Mich., he first sang as a member of a synagogue choir and on radio, then studied voice with Paul Althouse and made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1945.

Created after RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra was disbanded in the early 1960s when RCA Victor began moving much of its Red Seal recording activity to Europe and established the RCA Italiana Orchestra at its studios in Rome. The orchestra was largely made up of members from the Rome Opera House orchestra and was available for RCA Victor recording sessions only during the opera's off-season. This arrangement enabled RCA Victor to have an orchestra available for recordings without the expense of maintaining a full-time ensemble. A number of the orchestra's recordings were nominated for or received Grammy Awards.
