José Carreras

José Carreras (en catalan : Josep Carreras i Coll) est un artiste lyrique espagnol, né le 5 décembre 1946 à Barcelone. Réputé pour ses interprétations d'œuvres de Donizetti, Verdi et Puccini, il a notamment participé aux concerts des Trois Ténors, aux côtés de Plácido Domingo et de Luciano Pavarotti.
Atteint depuis les années 1980 d'une leucémie qui le contraint à suspendre sa carrière, il a créé une fondation consacrée à la recherche sur cette maladie.

Giacomo Puccini

Giacomo Puccini, de son nom complet Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini, né le 22 décembre 1858 à Lucques (grand-duché de Toscane) et mort le 29 novembre 1924 à Bruxelles, est un compositeur italien, considéré comme l'un des plus grands compositeurs de la fin du XIXe siècle et du début du XXe siècle.
Issu d'une famille dans laquelle cinq générations de musiciens se sont succédé, il porte le même prénom que son arrière-arrière-grand-père Jacopo Puccini, organiste et compositeur de musique sacrée du XVIIIe siècle, et est le fils de Michele Puccini (1813-1864), le petit-fils de Domenico Puccini (1772-1815) et l'arrière-petit-fils d'Antonio Puccini (1747-1832).

Katia Ricciarelli, née le 18 janvier 1946 à Rovigo, en Vénétie, est une soprano et une actrice italienne.
Son répertoire de prédilection est l'opéra italien des XIXe et XXe siècles dans Verdi, Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, et Puccini. Elle aborde néanmoins l'opéra allemand et viennois avec Wagner, Gluck, Haendel et Mozart.

Died: 14 April 2013 in London, England, UK (aged 85).

Sir Colin Rex Davis CH CBE was an English conductor and was particularly noted for his advocacy of the music of Hector Berlioz and of Sir Michael Tippett. In 1960, he was appointed chief conductor of Sadler's Wells Opera Company, a post he held until 1965. After he left Sadler's Wells, and being passed over as principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, he was named chief conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, effective September 1967, serving the orchestra until 1976. From 1971 to 1986, he was principal conductor of the Orchestra Of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. In 1977, he became the first English conductor to appear at Bayreuth. From 1983 to 1993, he was chief conductor of the Symphonie-Orchester Des Bayerischen Rundfunks. In 1995, he was appointed principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra; Davis was the longest-serving principal conductor in the history of the LSO, holding the post from 1995 until 2006, after which the orchestra appointed him its President.
Amongst many awards and honours, he was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1965, knighted in 1980, and appointed to the Order of the Companions of Honour (CH) in 2001.
He is the father of conductor Joseph Wolfe.
