Biographie
Herbert von Karajan est un chef d'orchestre autrichien, né à Salzbourg le 5 avril 1908 et mort à Anif (près de Salzbourg) le 16 juillet 1989.
Spécialiste du répertoire austro-germanique et mitteleuropéen de Bach à Bartók ainsi que de l'opéra italien, il a laissé près d'un millier d'enregistrements chez Deutsche Grammophon, EMI et Decca, ce qui en fait un des chefs les plus enregistrés du XXe siècle.
