Neil Young

Neil Percival Young (né le 12 novembre 1945 à Toronto, au Canada) est un chanteur et guitariste de folk, country et rock canadien. Son apogée se situe au début des années 1970 avec les albums After the Gold Rush et Harvest et son rôle dans le groupe Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Il est le fils du journaliste et nouvelliste Canadien Scott Young décédé en 2005.
Neil Young est reconnaissable par sa voix souvent haut-perchée et la guitare omniprésente. Les chansons relèvent de styles bien distincts : un folk-rock acoustique mâtiné de country avec des chansons comme Heart of Gold ou Long May You Run ; mais aussi une forme de hard rock et grunge avant l'heure, musique lancinante et hypnotique aux guitares saturées que l'on retrouve dans Cinnamon Girl, Southern Man ou Rockin' in the Free World, souvent associé avec Crazy Horse, le groupe qui l'accompagne une grande partie de sa carrière. Il s'est aussi aventuré dans d'autres genres musicaux (musique électronique, noise rock et rockabilly).
