Biography
Lune de Miel is a French band, formed in 1984, best known for their hit ‘Paradise Mi Amor’, which earned them a gold disc.
Lune de Miel is a French band formed in 1984 by producer Frédéric Partouche, with lyrics by Jean-Louis Milford (Jean-Louis Rodriguez) and music by Jean-André Duperron. The group consists of Jean de Franvil, born in Cayenne (French Guiana) in 1957, accompanied by three backing singers and dancers: Patricia Ariche, born in 1959, who went on to release a duet with Jean-Louis Milford of the band Century under the name “Hands of Love” (Dance to Dance), Jill (of mixed heritage, born in 1967, also a model) and Soledad, born in 1966 (under the pseudonym Sol Charys, she released the Italo dance single ‘Don't Watch Me’ in 1986).
In June 1985, the group were invited onto the programme Cadence 3 - Ring Parade,… where they won the public vote in the “Ring parade”, ahead of Marc Lavoine. From then on, the group’s popularity skyrocketed and the song ‘Paradise Mi Amor’ became one of the hits of the summer of 1985, reaching number 5 in the Top 50 sales chart; the single remained in the Top 50 for 22 weeks and topped the club charts across Europe. In November 1985, they were awarded a SNEP Gold Disc.
The band reached number 1 in France, Belgium, Mexico and throughout Latin America. This hit was followed by ‘Hey, Starlita!’ in 1985 and ‘Feeling of the night’ in 1986, two tracks composed by Frédéric Partouche and written by Louis Martial Kool and Georges Padey.
It is worth noting that the actual singer and lyricist of ‘Lune de miel’ is none other than Jean-Louis Milford (Jean-Louis Rodriguez), the lead singer of Century (whose ‘Lover Why’ reached number one in 1985), whilst keyboardist Jean Duperron had written the music for ‘Paradise mi amor’. Both musicians are from Paris and lived in Marseille. The money raised by ‘Paradise mi amor’ helped launch Century and bring together Parisian and Mediterranean musicians recruited through auditions; unfortunately, there were various line-up changes, but the band enjoyed undeniable European success, except in France, where their producer, Philippe Renaux, from Clever (under licence from Carrère), did not offer the band much support… As proof of this, their second album, Is It Red, was only released in Belgium…
Later, in 1987, the singer Jean-Louis Milford formed a duo with the singer Patricia Ariche from the band Lune de miel under the name “Hands of Love”, releasing the track ‘Dance to Dance’ on Clever (under licence from Carrère). They made an appearance on Christophe Dechavanne’s programme C'est encore mieux l'après-midi.
