Discology (discology.be) is a personal, non-commercial website, created in 2005 and run by Laurent Dekeyzer in Belgium. It showcases a private collection of records and books on music.

For any enquiries: contact form.

Hosting

The website is hosted by o2switch, SAS, Chemin des Pardiaux, 63000 Clermont-Ferrand, France – www.o2switch.fr.

Intellectual property

The text, photographs of the collection and the website code are the property of their author. Any reproduction requires the author’s prior consent.

Record sleeves and book covers are reproduced for illustrative purposes only and remain the property of their respective rights holders. If you are a rights holder and wish an image to be removed, simply let me know.

Some information is sourced from open databases, notably Discogs and Wikidata. Visitors’ countries are determined using MaxMind’s GeoLite2 data, available at www.maxmind.com.

Traffic statistics

To find out which pages interest visitors, the site tracks visits using its own tool: no external services, no advertising, and no resale or sharing of data.

The following data is recorded: pages viewed and time spent on them, country (deduced from the IP address on the server itself), browser, operating system, device type and referring site. The IP address is stored in truncated form (without its final block), which means you cannot be identified.

To recognise a returning visitor without a cookie (private browsing, cookies deleted), the site also retains an encrypted hash of the truncated address, the browser and its language: this does not allow us to identify either the address or the browser, and is used solely to link visits that are no more than 30 days apart.

A banner asks for your consent on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time:

Cookies

The website uses its own cookies:

dy_visitStatistics: grouping pages from the same visit30 minutes

The dy_visiteur and dy_visite cookies are deleted if you opt out of statistics.

The only exception: the chapters of the book *The Odyssey of Progressive Rock* incorporate YouTube and Spotify players, which may set their own cookies in accordance with the policies of those services. YouTube is used in ‘enhanced privacy’ mode: no cookies are set until the video is played.

Favourites and contact

Favourites: to prevent multiple votes, each vote is linked to a cryptographic hash of your IP address, which does not allow the address to be traced.

Contact form: your name, email address and message are sent to me by email, and a copy is stored on the website, accessible only to me. They are used solely to reply to you.

Your rights

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you may request access to, rectification or erasure of your personal data, or object to its processing, via the contact form.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority.

External links

The website provides links to other sites (YouTube, Spotify, Discogs, etc.). These are simple links, with the exception of the YouTube and Spotify players for the chapters of *L’Odyssée du Rock Progressif*. The content of these sites is the sole responsibility of their authors.
